NOURISHING MY SOUL

FROM AN ENGLISH DICTIONARY……

NOURISHMENT nur-ish-muhnt, nuhr- ]

noun

something that nourishes; food, nutriment, or sustenance.

the act of nourishing.

the state of being nourished.

a process, system, method, etc., of providing or administering nourishment.

WHAT IS YOUR SOUL LANGUAGE?
The dictionary defines ‘Nourishment’ as something to do with food.

But in this blog, I’m not talking about filling your stomach….I’m talking about food for your soul.

Are you nourishing your soul? And what does this mean anyway?
Perhaps you’ve heard the expression, ‘dog tired’, or ‘bone wearing…’

Well, there’s such a experience as ‘soul weariness’ too. And yes, it’s a real thing.
But how does a person know that their soul is weary? It takes some long, honest, heartfelt discussions with yourself, acknowledging and recognising your experiences and journeys of personal discoveries, where your soul was either in a state of wholeness or great deficit.

To help me explain your soul journey, I have to explain what has happened to me. Through my own journey, as I grew and matured in my spiritual teachings, as I counselled and mentored many people, I came to realize that regardless of the particular challenge or situation with which I was confronted, whether it was life-changes, discovery of dreams, desire for greater health and wholeness, or spiritual growth, there was something common to them all. In each and every case, symptoms of soul weariness were present.

Once I had managed to identify these symptoms, a powerful understanding and shift began to take place in my very being. It was extraordinary.

I witnessed souls not only waking up from the dead, but dreaming, loving, and living with a fresh new vibrancy and freedom. The challenges and situations originally presented  began to be resolved as those people whom I mentored faced them with greater understanding, determination and energy. It was truly amazing!

Our world today focuses on fear, demanding obligations, over-stimulated and over-scheduling. It’s creating a world-world weariness, where we’re always in a state of readiness, in which our inner beings are never relaxed. It’s as if we’re living life on the edge, all the while. One of the greatest people of the 20th Century, a man whose soul elevated a nation, Mohandas Gandhi, rid India of British Colonial rule and created an entire nation virtually alone. When he needed to think, he would sit for hours at his spinning wheel.

Soul Weariness has become an epidemic of the Cyber age. It’s as ubiquitous as any pandemic, and while it doesn’t kill, it harms so many of us. It’s destroying lives, families, careers and even belief in religion…and churches….in its wake.  Anxiety, loss of enjoyment of life, and depression are the result.  Many souls are just hanging on, when they want to move ahead. Some are in deep muddy waters just trying to stay afloat, some are even paralyzed, as clarity of purpose and vision have vanished.

Yes life is about trial and error, learning, expanding, experimenting and growing, but it doesn't have to be so hard. It takes years to get to know yourself and your body, and just when you think you've got a hold on it, something will happen or change, and you feel as if you’re right back to square one.

So how can we have a healthy soul base line, a place where we can fall back without going too far into the negative. How can we heal from injuries more quickly, overcome mental disturbances, psychic attacks, negative energies and frequencies, and white noise. Our soul after all is a sponge and the core of all things life, it’s where we process our thoughts, feelings and emotions.

Nothing…but nothing…is more nourishing for the soul than taking time out of your day to smell flowers, look at birds in the air, breathe deeply while you’re viewing a distant landscape. You owe it to yourself to nourish your soul, and Nature is there, waiting for you.

Of course a doctor will say that all of this is processed in the pre-frontal cortex of the brain and has nothing to do with ‘souls’. Which very well might be scientifically true, but it’s our soul that transcended into the body our brain is in. Even though you cannot see it – even though some of us can - your soul is very real and it plays a huge part in everything you think, feel, and do every single day.

How do I know this? Well, when you can see a person's soul rising after death, when you can see a person's soul hovering near their body in a dissociated way, or even your own soul above you hovering when astral travelling, you can have a greater understanding of its purpose and value.

So how can you work to keep your soul healthy and working in its highest frequency?
Everyone can work with what they have around them to feed & nourish themselves from the inside out. Here are some things I can share with you that you need to know and understand in order to look and feel great from your soul, right into your skin.

A rested soul is a healthy soul, too much stress, anxiety, turmoil and tension upsets our soul’s peace, and disturbs our meridians and whole endocrinal system. It’s not just our body that gets tired, everything does.

There is nothing healthier for the soul than being in the midst of Nature, especially among flowers. One of the great Greek philosophers of the ancient world, Epicurus, once said,

“Let no one be slow to seek wisdom when young, nor weary in the search of it when grown old. For no age is too early or too late for the health of the soul.”

So what are the signs of a weary soul?

*Negative thoughts,
*cynical views,
*skewed perceptions of others,
*bitterness,
*self destruction and sabotage.
*Negative thoughts,
*Loss of enthusiasm
*No interest in physical exercise
*No energy
*Impatient
*Alienating oneself.

So what can you do to raise the vibration of your soul? Did you know "how you sleep" is the first most vital step towards feeling healthy in your soul? And not just sleep in the way Western society teaches. No, this goes far beyond a good mattress or a pillow. This literally relates to the direction in which you sleep.

The recommended sleeping direction according to the philosophy of Vastu Shastra is that you lie down with your head pointed southward. In fact, I also alternate the direction I sleep in accordance with the Moon’s cycles as well.

A north-to-south body position is considered the worst direction. This is because the human head is considered to have a polar-like attraction, and it needs to face southward to attract opposite poles while you sleep.

So yes, you may find you will have to rearrange your room, or sleep the other way on your bed, but this is the first vital step towards your soul’s rejuvenation.

When your sleep ritual is fine-tuned and you’re rested and getting the recommended eight hours sleep, you can then move on to what's best to eat for your soul’s nourishment and it’s not the outdated method of the standard five food groups. Although they’re promoted widely by the practitioners of healthy nutrition, they are shockingly not in alignment with nourishing bodies at all. I will go more into that on my "Feeding your soul" blog.

Fasting for a period of 12 to 15 hours over a 24 hour period is essential to our cell rejuvenation, immunity and brain clarity.

Exercises - what, when, where and how, and how long - are extremely important.

Few things you can do in your day-to-day life are more nourishing for your soul than exercise; and if you can combine exercise with meditation, you’re on a nourishing winner.

Meditation, mantras, evoking, visualisation, self-talk, and yoga are essential to our soul health.

Essential oils, topically and ingested. But a note of caution….please check which oils are safe to ingest as not all of them are, but they are amazing cleansers.

Moon charged crystals under your pillow will sooth your soul and calm you for deep sleep.

Sun gazing, safely of course, works wonders. But ONLY look directly when the sun is at its weakest and won’t damage your eyes. This is the first hour after sunrise, and the last hour before sunset. The rays of the sun are then more gentle, and won’t harm your retina. NEVER look directly into the Sun outside of these specific hours. And always look obliquely. And remember that grounding your feet into the earth draws out negative energies and replenishes goodness, while you’re gazing at the sun. It will enhance your whole experience.

Hugging trees is another amazing and soothing ritual.

If you are experiencing two or more signs of "soul weariness" I encourage you to begin your own Soul Care Journey, in which your life will be transformed. It’s imperative to everything you do in life. With a little authenticity, dedication and commitment, you will find yourself living your best life. It’s a habit and it’s a journey – but it’s the best journey you’ll ever take!

What is it that you need to do that feels good to you and cleanses and lifts the vibration of your soul?

From a young age, I was lucky enough to be introduced to what my soul desired through all things natural by my spiritual healer father.

He was a wonderfully intelligent man, who carried the very essence of Nature in his heart. He wasn’t academic, but his education about the world of the earth and the spirits was second-to-none. He was well-read and when I was a child, he and I would walk hand in hand through the woods and forests surrounding my home and he would tell me all about the world of birds and feathers. He didn’t just tell me the facts, but built them into the most endearing and fascinating of stories.

He and I would go for long quiet walks in the bush and we would listen to all the different beautiful sounds of bird species. I would collect all the feathers on the ground in front of me and my father would tell me everything about that particular bird. When I was old enough not to be just a listener, but a fellow-traveller, I would make up stories with him about some bird’s fantastic migration patterns, and he’d then tell me more about its amazing journey across the world and beyond.

Fantasy and nature became my soul love language, my place to escape, cleanse and rejuvenate. I would put my feathers in my hair like a Native American and I would use them to swirl my sage stick smoke high up into the air when I cleansed and manifested.

Now that I am older, I understand even more the importance of Nourishing My Soul. It has become a daily habit to listen to what it needs and respond to it as quickly as I can. I still collect feathers, "my soul language," and I place some in a large vase of flowers; others I make into wands and ceremonial pieces. I also give my feathers away to anyone I feel needs some good universal love and energy.

Feathers have become my calling card in a very unique and special way. But they’re not the only way in which I nourish my soul. Other ways involve writing my poetry, my novels, loving my pets, cooking good food, drawing, and even day dreaming.

The most valuable time we can spend, is the time we spend understanding the needs of our soul, listening to its vibrations, trying to understand its needs and moods, and most especially quietly sitting, breathing deeply and steadily in a calm and peaceful location, and hearing our internal rhythms. You’ll often see me, sitting cross-legged on a rock on a cliff, overlooking the sea, staring out at the horizon. These are not only some of the most peaceful times of my life, but the most useful, because it helps me to re-focus, re-centre, and listen to what my heart, mind and soul are trying to tell me.
